How to use this AI Image Prompt Generator

  1. 01

    Describe your subject

Write who or what should appear — be specific about appearance, action and setting.

  2. 02

    Choose style and camera

Pick one or more art styles and a camera angle to define the overall look.

  3. 03

    Set lighting and composition

Lighting sets the mood; composition guides where the eye goes.

  4. 04

    Choose a platform and copy

Choose your platform, then copy the prompt. Midjourney includes --ar; for other platforms, choose image dimensions in the generator’s own settings where available.

Tips

Tips for writing better AI image prompts

What makes a good prompt?

Start with a clear subject and action, then describe the setting, style, lighting and framing. Specific visual details are more useful than vague praise such as ‘amazing’.

Be concrete, not vague

“An elderly fisherman with a weathered face” beats “an old man”.

Limit conflicting styles

Combining two compatible styles works well; five competing ones muddies results.

Keep the length focused

There is no ideal word count for every model. Begin with one to three focused sentences and add only details that matter. Long, repetitive or conflicting descriptions can make results less predictable.

Make realism concrete

Describe believable light, natural skin or material texture, realistic proportions and a clear camera viewpoint. Avoid combining photorealism with conflicting illustration styles; ‘ultra detailed’ alone does not guarantee realism.

Use negative prompts selectively

A negative prompt names things to exclude, such as blur or watermarks. Put it in a dedicated negative field only if your chosen model supports one; it is a preference, not a guarantee.

Examples

Example prompts

Photorealistic portrait

A photorealistic head-and-shoulders portrait of an elderly ceramic artist in her workshop, gentle window light from the left, natural skin texture and fine smile lines, clay dust on her apron, eye-level framing, softly blurred shelves of handmade bowls, subtle neutral colors.

Cinematic landscape

A cinematic wide view of a glacial valley at sunrise, a winding river leading toward snow-covered peaks, low mist above the water, warm light touching the mountaintops and cool shadows in the foreground, a tiny hiker for scale, restrained film-like color grading.

Luxury product photography

Luxury studio product photograph of a clear glass perfume bottle with a brushed silver cap on a black stone plinth, a single olive branch beside it, soft side lighting revealing the glass edges, controlled reflections, generous empty space, crisp material textures, no lettering or branding.

Fantasy artwork

A hand-painted fantasy illustration of a wandering cartographer crossing a bridge made of giant tree roots above a luminous forest, floating lanterns guiding the path, intricate moss-covered architecture, rich emerald and crimson accents, layered brushwork, a sense of wonder and vast scale.

3D character figurine

A stylized 3D figurine of a cheerful robot gardener holding a tiny watering can, rounded ceramic body, mint-green panels and yellow rubber boots, small scuffs on the joints, full-body three-quarter view, soft studio lighting, clean pale background, tactile collectible-toy finish.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is this tool free? +

Yes. The AI Image Prompt Generator is completely free and needs no account.

Does it create images? +

No. It writes prompts you can paste into any AI image generator of your choice.

Can the same prompt work across different generators? +

A clear natural-language description is a useful starting point across many generators, but models interpret words differently, so results will vary. Adjust the wording and use the generator’s supported size and other settings. This tool adds --ar only for Midjourney; it does not translate every model’s advanced syntax.

What makes a good AI image prompt? +

Describe the subject, what it is doing, its surroundings, and the visual look you want. Add relevant lighting and composition details, and avoid contradictory instructions. Refine one detail at a time after seeing the generated image.

How long should an AI image prompt be? +

There is no universal best length. One to three clear sentences is a practical starting point, not a model limit. Use enough detail to communicate your scene without repetition, and check your chosen model’s input limits.

What is a negative prompt? +

It is a list of unwanted elements, such as blur, watermarks or distorted anatomy. Some Stable Diffusion workflows and Leonardo models offer a separate negative field; support depends on the model and interface. DALL·E does not generally provide the same dedicated field, and Midjourney’s --no is a different setting that this tool does not add. Negative instructions cannot guarantee an element is removed.

How can I create more realistic AI images? +

Ask for realistic proportions, natural surface textures and a believable light source. Describe a camera viewpoint and background that fit the subject. Keep styles consistent, review the result for anatomy or reflection errors, then revise specific details rather than piling on quality keywords.

How is the aspect ratio included? +

The preview shows your chosen ratio separately. For Midjourney, Copy Prompt also includes --ar followed by the ratio. Universal Prompt, Stable Diffusion, DALL·E and Leonardo AI copy only the main text; set the closest supported dimensions in your image generator. Available sizes depend on the model.

Is my input stored? +

No. Everything runs in your browser; nothing you type is sent to a server.
